High voltage test of the GEM foils was performed to verify their quality. The foils are stretched and framed if they pass the first high voltage test. The drift cathode and the readout are glued onto honeycombs. Gas system test is done after the detector i Amilkar_Thesis_submitted_July9_2010s assembled. The commissioning of the detectors was made using a Cu X-ray source and cosmic rays. The results show the energy spectrum of each source.Amilkar_Thesis_submitted_July9_2010
The Cu X-ray spectrum show's an energy resolution ~20% (FWHM). The gas gain was ~104 at 4 kv applied voltage. One detector has framed foils as the standard detectors. We used an 55Fe X-ray source for commissioning. The spectrum for cosmic and 55Fe (energy resolution ~60°/o FWHM) are reproduced. The rate plateau shows up at 4.05 kV and the gain was ~105 at 4.3 kv applied voltage.
